Counseling Style

Sara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Art Therapist. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in both Relational-Cultural Theory and the Expressive Therapies Continuum, with an emphasis on curiosity, sincerity, and validation. Sessions with Sara are fluid and collaborative, trauma informed, and often borrow techniques from emotion-focused therapy and mindfulness. Sara is enthusiastic about providing care to clients exploring their intersecting identities and being a witness to them as they navigate healing. Alongside traditional talk therapy, her practice encourages clients to utilize art therapy for expression, regulation, and emotional processing. With this foundation, Sara aims to curate a holding environment that tends to clients’ overall wellness.

Experience

Sara received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy from Lesley University in 2022. Her former professional experience with inpatient and residential level care, in tandem with her art therapy practice, has reinforced her flexibility in session and enables her to welcome issues with intentionality and openness. Working hands on with disabled and symptomatic clients of all ages and orientations has widened her understanding of individual needs, the importance of a support system, and cultural competency. Her past work has supported areas such as grief, trauma, attachment, identity exploration, and relationship wellness.
