Karen is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Her approach focuses on creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgemental environment where clients can feel comfortable sharing their concerns and unique stories. She listens closely, works collaboratively, and draws from her broad range of experience to provide support. Karen is culturally sensitive and values diversity in her practice.
She offers play therapy for children and works closely with parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process. Karen sees herself as a partner to families, assisting them in navigating challenges their child may be facing. Central to her approach is building a relationship where children feel seen and safe to express themselves through play.
Karen believes in the power of creativity for self-expression and personal growth. She incorporates art and writing techniques in her practice to help individuals connect with their inner resources.
Experience
Karen holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and an MSW from New York University. She relocated from New York City two years ago. Karen has experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages in a variety of settings, including schools, community centers, hospitals, and hospice.
Her areas of expertise include grief and loss, adoption, ADHD, anxiety and depression, life transitions, parenting and family issues, coping with illness, creativity, end-of-life issues, trauma, relationship issues, and stress management.
