Joel is an experienced clinician focused on supporting client-centered growth in a safe and affirming space. Joel hopes to help individuals and families “read the map” and work towards the “destinations” they see for themselves in life’s journey through a range of modalities as they fit the needs and comfort of those he supports.
Experience
Joel has been working in the support field in a number of roles for over two decades. In 2009, he earned his MSW from Loyola University of Chicago, and has since worked in a number of positions and with a variety of populations. He has worked with youth of all ages, families of various construction, with adults in individual and couples therapy in an outpatient setting. He has met populations where they are emotionally as well as physically, spending time in community based work, a residential placement, outpatient office and virtual settings, and as a clinician at a therapeutic school supporting the day to day of school as well as navigating the education system to help best support vulnerable learners and their families.
Joel has continues his education over this time to become familiar with various modalities in addition to those listed and he has done trainings related to solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, play therapy, and suicide prevention models, as well as population and diagnosis specific models to be able to support people whatever their struggles may be. Joel greatly recognizes the need for continuing to learn and approaching issues from new perspectives. He tries to exemplify this to the people he works with through taking every opportunity to expand professional knowledge and effective intervention.
