Counseling Style
David is a licensed mental health counselor who uses a person-centered and solution-focused approach. He works to create space for therapy to be a safe, nonjudgmental and an empathetic environment that promotes autonomy and encourages humor, allowing individuals to set their therapeutic goals and make meaning of life’s challenges. David is dedicated to working collaboratively with you and empowering you as you navigate your journey towards self-discovery and wellness.
When working with children and families, David uses attachment-based and solution-focused techniques, as well as trauma-informed care and evidence-based play therapy, to foster child-caregiver trust and encourage emotional and behavioral modifications.
Experience
David earned his graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling from ATS, a division of Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. Over the past 15 years, David has worked in various settings including collegiate environments, community intensive home-based services, outpatient therapy with children and adolescents, First-Episode Psychosis treatment for ages 12-35, and outpatient treatment of adults across various diagnoses. He has experience in leadership and management of community and home-based services and in supervising and supporting other mental health counselors.
