Jota Weeks, LMFT shares “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” book one of a five book trilogy by Douglas Adams. Books two and three of the trilogy are, “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe,” and “Life, the Universe, and Everything.”
“Although these books might not seem relevant to the idea of therapy, all three of them represent a surprisingly complex and nuanced view of humanity and wisdom,” says Jota.
“I continuously find anecdotes and relationships within the books to be relevant to many aspects of life, in very much the same way that a religious leader might reference their originating scriptures, such as the Bible or the Koran.”
Jota says that the messages and ideas in the Hitchhiker’s Guide are a fun lighthearted way to consider our role in the greater world and to better situate ourselves within it.
“Although this book isn’t perfect, it is at the top of my desert island list. If you haven’t read it then you absolutely should and then it will be at the top of your list as well,” says Jota.
