We sat down with Bob Chabot, LICSW, to find out what book he’d recommend to his clients. Here is what Bob offered:
“When couples are stuck in a blaming and attacking mode I often recommend the book, The Dance of Anger, by Dr. Harriet Lerner. It’s a renowned book about relationships, and taking personal responsibility for what you bring to the relationship. Lerner explores the ways in which women and men can voice their dissatisfactions with their relationship in ways that aren’t attacking or blaming. She investigates how people can express their anger constructively, without distancing themselves from their partner through silence or blame. The book has meaning for all types of people, regardless of age, gender, background, or experience.”
