Counseling Style

Luisa is a licensed mental health counselor who has over 8 years in providing therapy to individuals ages 3-18 years old along with their parents and caregivers. She believes in a child-centered approach and her practice and values are based on the belief that mental health treatment needs to be normalized just like a routine doctor’s visit or dental cleaning. She believes that mental health is health and firmly believes that it is imperative to our overall functioning and well-being.

Luisa strives to give her clients a supportive and judgement free environment, with the understanding and cultural awareness that every person and family comes from a unique background and history. She will collaborate with individuals and families to identify goals and overcome barriers which will lead towards meaningful change and personal growth.

Experience

Luisa has over 8 years of experience working with individuals and groups in clinical and educational settings. She has worked as an outpatient therapist, school-based therapist, behavioral therapist as well as helped start a trauma focused program for transitional aged youth (18-23). She uses a variety of clinical approaches to meet the needs of each individual client and family.
